BFEC’s Engineering Division is currently seeking candidates for the position of Engineering Technician.
Job Description:
Engineering technicians assist project engineers with data collection, visualization, and interpretation of survey data for various projects including site grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, SWPPP’s (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan), stream and wetland restoration, and stormwater BMP’s (Best Management Practice). Engineering technicians will help with preparation of engineering details and specifications, materials required for permitting and construction documents, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for design and permitting, and surveying. These tasks require an understanding of CAD (Autodesk Civil3D), GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS), and Microsoft Office Suite software.
All positions are expected to be multi-disciplinary, assisting fellow team members with tasks such as data collection, project implementation, environmental monitoring, and construction management as needed. The desire to learn new skills and to advance your current understanding of different environmental components is a must!

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
All skill levels are encouraged to apply for this position. Preferred applicants will have an academic degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience. Desired coursework, skills, and experience include:
- Experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and ArcGIS software
- Familiarity with hydraulics and hydraulic analysis (HEC-RAS)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Flexibility to work in both field and office settings
- A strong work ethic, strong communication skills, attention to detail and must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
