Environmental Site Assessments
Brushy Fork is experienced in conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for a variety of clients. Our Phase 1 ESAs are performed in accordance with the latest ASTM standard E 1527-13 and include site reconnaissance, physical descriptions, mapping, interviews, environmental database surveys, historical aerial photography reviews, and chain of title searches.
Brushy Fork works extensively for the US Forest Service as well as numerous land trusts and environmental non-profits including the Blue Ridge Conservancy, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy and The Conservation Fund. When working for these clients, the goal of the purchase is often to acquire land for the purpose of enlarging existing public lands. We have conducted Phase I ESAs for additions to the Cherokee National Forest (TN), Three Top Mountain Game Lands (NC), Pond Mountain Game Lands (NC), Blue Ridge Parkway (NC), and Doe Mountain Recreation Area (TN).
We also conduct ESAs for private buyers on urban, developed sites with a high potential for Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs). For example, BFEC recently conducted an ESA at a former paint manufacturing facility located in Boone, NC.
